Naprem from Neil Kirby (12/15/1999)

The fierce rivalry between Sisko and Dukat to see who can get Captain’s Log benefits on the most ships continues apace. In Rules of Acquisition they both get a ship to play with, but this one is possibly the more intriguing. The Naprem is arguably the best value-for-money ship available to the Cardassians, courtesy of the Klingon Empire. Its single staff star means that it'll nestle nicely at your Docking Ports alongside your Military Freighters and Galor class ships. However it's significantly more versatile than the workhorse freighter, with improvements in all departments for the same staffing. It also offers Galor Class stats with a reduced staffing requirement (increasingly important with armadas maintaining their popularity), while stocking a very handy cloaking device, a feature that it shares with only the more costly Keldon Advanced.

If we compare Dukat's array of ships, the Naprem continues to shine. The Groumall with System 5 Disruptors still lacks 1 RANGE over her, but it gains 1 WEAPONS at the cost of 1 SHIELDS and a cloaking device. The Prakesh (SE) has 1 SHIELDS advantage over the Naprem, but this is bought at the cost of a staff star and, guess what, no cloaking device. So the Naprem is Dukat's ship of choice - bet Ziyal's mother's proud!

Combo:

  • Naprem + Dukat + Dolak + Captain's Log: A cloakable ship with 8 RANGE, 12 WEAPONS, and 10 SHIELDS. Just use an Engage Cloak to leave it as a threat against your unsuspecting opponent!
