Card Extra Chain Reaction Ricochet from Neil Kirby (07/06/2000) |

|
If this extra was to be written by Todd Soper, he'd have us all singing excerpts from "Tommy," because this amusing little number allows us all to stand like a statue, not bother the machine and become (Intergalactic) Pinball Wizards. But I wouldn't do that to you... This hidden agenda drives another nail in the armada coffin as it allows your single ship (with, of course, the appropriate weapon) to damage multiple ships from your opponent's battle fleet, leaving them crippled and unmanned in space. Its clear advantages over Auto-Destruct Sequence are that it cannot be nullified by Amanda Rogers, plays in battle, and has no SHIELDS limit to the ships that it can damage or destroy. Just select your initial target with your Chain Reaction Pulsar to get a hit (be careful not to blow your initial target up!), and then use the flippers to bounce the Chain Reaction around your opponent's fleet. The really sweet thing about this weapon is that it gathers momentum as it bounces around... initial target gets 1 flip, second ship gets 2 flips, third ship gets 3 flips... and so on until every opposing ship gets hit or one of them blows up. Flipping marvelous! The impact that this will have on your opponent's ships will depend on the contents of your Battle Bridge side deck. If it's full of the "generic" affiliation weapons, e.g. Spiral-Wave Disruptor or Phaser Banks, it'll take out the 4th ship that it hits through HULL damage and kill up to 6 people from its first 3 strikes (as well as inflicting some pretty hefty damage). If that doesn't deter their aggressive instincts I'm not sure what will. A more subtle approach is to use Chain Reaction Ricochet with a Battle Bridge side deck full of Picard Maneuvers. The lower HULL damage caused by this tactic means that the Ricochet lasts one ship longer before it destroys anything, but the progressive reduction of RANGE on his once proud fleet may reduce him to a sea of floating hulks - fully manned but unable to go anywhere. Just remember - don't lean too hard on the machine and get Tilt! Combos:
