Chula: The Drink from Neil Kirby (07/11/2000)

See picture of Chula: The Drink.

Now how did I get this one? :-) Oh yes, I asked for it. Nothing speaks quite so much to the perils of drink as this addition to the Chula family.

The new Chula pursuit requires 4 participants (randomly selected) and can be played either in the comfort of your ship, or while on a planet. Unless one of them is either rather clever or somewhat wanting in the cranial department, all of them will be stopped. So it's a versatile lead-off dilemma. On one hand it will make sure that you have enough people to have your wicked way with later - no solitaire allowed here. Follow up with Q-Flash, or something that punishes him for his numbers. On the other hand, it can be a good way of whittling down a mega-away team to more manageable proportions. Several affiliations (notably the Ferengi, Romulans and Bajorans) have difficulty getting the CUNNING requirements to win this particular diversion. So the few unstopped people are left vulnerable to whatever may follow, like a stray Borg Servo or Flaxian Assassin, perhaps?

So who's going to be good at this game? The answers are somewhat curious. The Borg are surprisingly good at drinking games - the Borg Queen (FC) can spot the trick immediately, while Defense and Communications drones' low CUNNING makes them less fastidious, but effective. The Klingons have a number of people (notably some common mission specialists) who can stop their knuckles dragging on the ground long enough to grab a glass, and the lovebirds, Quark Son of Keldar and Grilka, can get by with impunity thanks to QSoK's CUNNING boost. The Sword of Kahless also boosts several honorable Klingons (including Mogh and the boys) to passing this dilemma. Another conceptually odd way to get round this dilemma is available to the Feds in the form of Admiral "I'm a doctor, not a barman" McCoy, whose +3 CUNNING boost to other MEDICAL personnel adds to the number of personnel that can pass the Drink. And what do Bashir Founder, Ixtana’Rax, and Keevan have in common?

So, is it D for drinky? Or P for potion? Let's find out, shall we! Gaaaack! Wrong again! slump
