Q Gets the Point from Kathy McCracken (08/08/2000)

See picture of Q Gets the Point.

The latest Q-related dilemma may not be as difficult to pass as the original "Q", but it might prove tricky for some affiliations, notably the Federation. There are only two ways to get "over the wall," either with two Treachery (not the most common skill in a typical Federation deck) or with Mortal Q himself (who you won't want to play with if you're using a Q-Continuum side deck). If your opponent has Guinan or Madam Guinan in play, he then filters out one Treachery personnel (or Mortal Q) of his choice, making it a perfect setup for a number of dilemmas.

If you don't care to have a Treachery personnel "stopped," you can take the nullification route instead, with Guinan or Madam Guinan in your Away Team or crew, or by playing Q2.

Combos:

  • Q Gets the Point + Center of Attention: Center of Attention has tough requirements but it will fizzle completely if no Treachery or Greed is available. Q Gets the Point will practically ensure that treacherous target.
  • Q Gets the Point + In the Pale Moonlight: Your Federation opponent may manage to scrape up two Treachery, but more than likely at least one will be Non-Aligned. Make sure to "fork" the [Fed] Treachery to stall him for another turn.
