Card Extra Resistance is Futile from Evan Lorentz (06/30/2000) |

When many players build a Borg deck, they look first for cards with a Borg subcommand icon on them, as they are the icons most often called for when probing for Borg objectives. If a card has all three, it's a winner in any deck - you almost need not look farther. In this case, however, there's a whole lot more to look at! First up is a function keying off of Defense subcommand Borg. Just play Resistance is Futile on certain objectives you've completed, and whenever a Defense Borg is there, you'll net a 10 point bonus. You'll have to divide resources to maintain a presence at the location of your completed objective, but for a 35 point Establish Gateway or Assimilate Planet (or a 40 point Salvage Starship!), they're resources well-allocated. Second is a function for the Communications subcommand - very specific, but very useful. If played on your opponent's Q’s Planet, having a Communications Borg at that location will negate the need for you to score 40 extra points to win the game. Now the fact that the Borg can't target Q's Planet with any of their objectives is irrelevant. Finally, a function for the Navigation Borg, the ability to report directly aboard your Borg spheres. Since 2 Navigation Borg are exactly the requirements needed to staff spheres, this will allow you to replace lost Borg you need for movement quickly and easily. Combos:
