A Fast Ship Would Be Nice from Evan Lorentz (11/16/2000)

See picture of A Fast Ship Would Be Nice.

This vicious dilemma leaves a player very few options - the player encountering it, that is, as his opponent will have all sorts of options, killing any personnel present by choice.

Only three things can stand in the way of this powerful kill. The first two are personnel: a bodyguard or a Guard Drone. If you're playing Borg, you'd best not risk your Queen without the latter. For all other affiliations, you have a small but useful pool of bodyguards to choose from, including Non-Aligned options like Krozh and Ruk.

The third option is to give up a ship to your opponent (assuming he's playing something other than Borg and thus can accept a commandeered ship). Since there is safety in numbers, you may already be traveling around the spaceline in pairs or groups. Just remember that a ship must be empty for you to give it up, so if you're used to holding a second "backup" crew in reserve in case your first mission attempt fails, you might need to consider another option.

Combo:

  • A Fast Ship Would Be Nice + Barclay’s Protomorphosis Disease: One potent example - really any mass kill dilemma will do nicely after Fast Ship, as it has no conditions to stop your opponent's personnel after you kill one. That will lead them straight into your waiting trap, with exactly the right (wrong?) personnel now dead and gone.
