Card Extra Kelvan Show of Force from Chris Heard (11/28/2000) |

So what could be more fun than reducing your opponent's personnel to chalky, bluish truncated cubes measuring perhaps just under 216 cubic inches? Why, reducing those selfsame cubes to powder, of course! Kelvan Show of Force is one dilemma that definitely deserves the label "killer," but in fact it transcends the common categories of "wall," "filter," and "killer" dilemma types. Although androids and holograms are immune to the destructive effects of Kelvan Show of Force - presumably because their bodies do not have the same chemical composition as typical humanoid bodies, and are therefore not susceptible to the Kelvans' water-extraction and chemical restructuring technology - your opponent can't breeze past this dilemma by using an all-android or all-hologram crew or Away Team. At least two non-android, non-holographic personnel are needed to get past the dilemma in the first place, making Kelvan Show of Force a nice "wall" in the tradition of Chula: The Drink, Chula: The Way Home, and Lineup. Once your opponent climbs the "wall" aspect of Kelvan Show of Force, you get to apply the "filter" before the "killer" portion kicks in. As with the quintessential killer dilemma, Armus - Skin of Evil, the final outcome is random. However, you get to narrow the odds considerably by choosing which of two personnel are likely to die. If you're gunning for a particular opposing classification or skill, this choice of two can narrow the odds considerably. Combos:
