Card Extra

Sense the Borg from Kathy McCracken (05/26/2000)

See picture of Sense the Borg.

One versatile interrupt gives you a host of ways to counter Borgish strategies. Whether your opponent is playing Borg or just seeding Borg Ship dilemmas and playing Rogue Borg, you can download something useful to hand, in some cases for immediate use and in others, in anticipation of later need. Have your eye on the point bounty on that Borg Cube just reported? Download Weak Spot so you can knock 4 off its SHIELDS when you get ready to swarm it. Just tripped a Borg Ship dilemma and your Hugh hasn't turned up yet? Sense the Borg will download it, ready to play in response to the attack.

But the Borg-related card that enters play doesn't have to belong to your opponent. Report any Borg ship or personnel and take advantage of a Borg Neuroprocessor to check out one of your opponent's hidden agendas. Or report one of the Queen's or Locutus' ships, then play Sense the Borg to download Ready Room Door and play it to download the matching commander to his or her ship.

Combos:

  • Sense the Borg + Borg Neuroprocessor: Your opponent starts playing Rogue Borg on your ship. Download Borg Neuroprocessor in response to any one, and if you can kill one of them, nullify all the rest after the battle.
  • Sense the Borg + Ready Room Door + opponent's Borg: As soon as your opponent starts reporting Borg ships and drones, start building up your defenses by getting a Ready Room Door and downloading matching commanders, Captain’s Log and Tactical Consoles for your ships, and Lower Decks to beef up your universal personnel STRENGTH in case of hand-to-hand combat.
  • Sense the Borg + Ready Room Door + your Rogue Borg: Play Rogue Borg to "stop" or battle your opponent, and use the opportunity to download any of the Captain's Orders. You get the ben fits of Crew Reassignment, Establish Landing Protocols or Mission Debriefing while simultaneously annoying your opponent.
