Mot's Useless Card Review #1: Vulcan Nerve Pinch |
Okay, this is a common card from AU, so you've probably got a ton of them. You've probably also never used them. After all, all the Vulcans are Federation, which means they can't attack (except under extremely rare circumstances). Are you going to sit around on a planet with a team of Vulcans waiting for someone to beam down and attack you? Ah, but the little remembered catch here is that it works on Soong-type androids, too. Until now, Data (Prem) was the only one, and Federation as well. Q-C gave us two more, Lal and Juliana Tainer, that are both "true blue." But it also gave us the non-aligned Soong-Type Android. This means you can go marauding up and down the spaceline with a group of Soong-Type Androids, beam them down to an opponent's stranded or stopped Away team, and then shock them with a Vulcan Nerve Pinch that puts one personnel in stasis for every android you brought along! Killing off a crew member ought to be easy enough then! Combine it with a Dead in Bed to kill off an extra crew member of your choice. You might also try the Nerve Pinch in a Colony deck some time. Build yourself a Colony of as many CIVILIAN Soong-Type Androids as possible. The massive amount of points you are going to be scoring is sure to encourage your opponent to bring by a Team to stop you sooner or later. But won't they be surprised when, upon beaming down their group of Klingon bullies or whatever, you put them all in stasis with a Vulcan Nerve Pinch! |
