Mot's Useless Card Review #21: Varon-T Disruptor |
Doubled strength isn't good for much, a lot of players would say. That may be true - the whole point is to figure out what it is good for! ;-) Brute Force doesn't look like too attractive a mission at first glance. But if you are packing the mother of all disruptors, it's a breeze! You can send down the largest Away Team you'd like, and take on even the Q your opponent may have thrown at you on your way to a very impressive score. It probably goes without saying that a Colony is basically immune to surface attack if the colonists are armed with a Varon-T Disruptor. (Especially if there are a number of androids living there!) Speaking of surface attacks, you can set one up by loading your seed deck with dilemmas designed to stop Away Teams during planet mission attempts, then swoop in for the kill next turn. You can really put on the hurt if you stocked a Phaser Burns! Last, but not least, you'll never again need to fear the mission you seeded your outpost at! Outpost Raid is a breeze, even with an Away Team of only 6 average personnel. (And you won't get nailed badly by the Q-Flash an opponent might follow that Raid with.) On top of all this, you'd better believe battle is gonna become more prominent by the end of the year... First Contact Expansion and the newly announced battle expansion will be here before you know it! |
