Card Extra The Emperor’s New Cloak from Kathy McCracken (12/05/2000) |
||
|
If you've ever drooled over a Breen CRM114 or a pile of Gold-Pressed Latinum left carelessly unattended by your opponent, or envied the Borg their equipment-theft ability, this card is for you. Your non-Borg "Procurement Drone" is any personnel with Treachery, and not only can he steal equipment cards, he can even walk off with the cloaking device that's printed on your ship! In order to steal that printed cloaking device, you'll have to have a cloaking device equipment card to download, but you'll want that option anyway in case your opponent's cloaking device card is incompatible with your ship's technology. For example, the Stolen Cloaking Device requires a ship with at least one staffing icon, while the Romulan Cloaking Device will function only on a Romulan ship or an [OS] ship with 2 ENGINEER. If you want to cloak a Bajoran Interceptor, you'll need to download a Small Cloaking Device instead. But even if the card you steal won't interface with your ship, you've still deprived your opponent of the ability to cloak his ship (unless you choose the 10-point bonus for bringing the booty back to Regent Worf or any Enterprise). As far as other equipment goes, almost anyone can use another disruptor or PADD or Medical Kit, and once stolen, any affiliation/species requirements for its use disappear. Your opponent's Federation PADD will work nicely to boost your Ferengi CUNNING (though a Mek’leth will still enhance only Klingons). Combos:
