Card Extra Organ Theft from Chris Heard (04/25/2001) |

The dreadful phage, the bane of Vidiian existence, has compromised its victims' sense of ethics. Placing their own survival at the pinnacle of their value system, the Vidiians have turned their skill in biomedical technology into a weapon to be used against other living beings when transplant organs are otherwise in short supply. The Star Trek CCG represents the Vidiians' evil genius in the Organ Theft objective, which enables your Vidiian to use a Vidiian Harvester to "steal organs" from another personnel present. Naturally, removing that personnel's internal organs permanently incapacitates them, causing them to be discarded (but not "killed," so you can't keep a victim "alive" with Genetronic Replicator or the like). But it gives your Vidiians a new lease on life, conceptually represented by you reporting two Vidiians or downloading one, and giving you immunity to The Phage until the end of your next turn. Moreover, if the victim is one of your opponent's personnel, you have the option of discarding Organ Theft to score 10 bonus points. Organ Theft is obviously a key component of a Vidiian deck's resource management toolbox as well as a powerful offensive weapon. If you can get a Vidiian with Harvester present with your opponent's personnel, you can kill one of your choice per turn - not to mention downloading one or reporting two Vidiians of your own to receive the hapless victim's organs (unlike the Captured/Prisoner Exchange combo, the victim doesn't come back, you don't have to sacrifice seed slots to pull it off, and you download the personnel to an otherwise permissible reporting location). Even if you're finding it hard to get your personnel present with your opponent's, you can sacrifice one of your own Vidiians to download the particular one you need. To use Organ Theft effectively, you'll need a Vidiian Harvester. Of course, there are plenty of other reasons to use a Vidiian Harvester. But that's another story. Combos:
