The dreadful phage, the bane of Vidiian existence, has taken a heavy toll on its victims. This interrupt reflects the fragility of Vidiian life. What other affiliation must cope with a common interrupt that can simply kill one if its personnel at the beginning of a mission attempt or personnel battle? This card is particularly attractive in a Warp Speed Constructed or Voyager Constructed environment. For Vidiian players, The Phage's second function could prove helpful in a variety of circumstances. Problem: a key personnel is trapped aboard a ship traveling down the spaceline under the influence of the Cytherians. Solution: The Phage. Problem: the Borg have targeted your Vidiian for assimilation as a counterpart, and have just beamed aboard your ship. Solution: The Phage. Problem: a Q-Flash has just snagged a critical mission-solver with Penalty Box. Solution: The Phage. Problem: your chief exobiologist has just zipped off to the Gamma Quadrant to help some white-addicted Jem'Hadar. Solution: The Phage. Problem: . . . well, you get the idea. There's one other way in which The Phage might help any player whose Warp Speed deck includes Vidiian personnel. Since the second function allows you to place your targeted Vidiian beneath your draw deck, The Phage can keep you from drawing out your deck, and may thus allow you to turn a potential timed win (or loss) into a full win by keeping your draw deck alive long enough to complete that second mission. Vidiian players will, of course, want to seek some defense against The Phage. Counter cards like Amanda Rogers or Quinn could, of course, be effective. Better yet, your Vidiians can protect themselves from The Phage by committing a little Organ Theft. But that's another story. Combos:
