When Kes left the U.S.S. Voyager because her mental abilities became too unstable, she gave them a "gift". She was able to tap her powers to move the ship 9,500 light years closer to home and out of immediate danger from the Borg they had just encountered. This interrupt is powerful in both Voyager-only and the full game environment. Let's look at the Voyager-only environment first. In this setting the spaceline is guaranteed be twelve missions in length. Kes is primarily a Non-Aligned personnel native to the Delta Quadrant, thus, the Kazon and Vidiian affiliations will be able to use her "gift" just as much as the Federation. If you need to travel from one end of the spaceline to another to solve a mission, use the Gift and voila - you're there! In the full game environment you're sure to face such nasty dilemmas as a Borg Ship or Cytherians. You can use Kes' special download to suspend play and avoid the Borg Ship dilemma's attack by moving to a safer location. Or, once Cytherians is affecting your ship and crew, use Kes' download to move and score the 15 points. Another use for The Gift in either environment is in battle. With Kes aboard one of your ships, you suspend play to move away from a battle OR while initiating a battle against an opponent's ship where they might have an advantage, suspend play and surprise them with reinforcements that come from far away.
