Transwarp Hub from Chris Heard (12/14/2001)

See picture of Transwarp Hub.

Some days it seems like you see a Borg ship everywhere you turn. Where are they all coming from?

The Transwarp Hub functions like a kind of Grand Central Station for your Borg. Using the Hub frees you from the need to stock Transwarp Network Gateway or Transwarp Conduit cards in your deck for purposes of ship movement. Once you have a Transwarp Network Gateway card anywhere on any spaceline - and don't forget, the doorway's own game text allows you to seed one at any spaceline end - you can move back and forth between the Transwarp Hub and the Transwarp Network Gateway.

Moving to or from the Transwarp Hub is limited to once per turn, but the Hub has a couple of interesting aspects that mitigate this limitation. First, the Hub is universal. Second, and very importantly, the Hub's game text simply says "Seeds or plays," not "Seed one." Thus you may seed multiples if you wish. You must seed them all in the Delta Quadrant, but there are several Delta Quadrant nebulae from which to choose. And since the Transwarp Hub is marked [Univ], you may use each of them once per turn if you need greater mobility.

Notice too that the Transwarp Hub is an outpost. You may thus report your [DQ] [Borg] ships and personnel there, seed a Spacedoor on it, seed the Complink Drone there, and gain other general benefits of an outpost.

Combos:

  • Transwarp Hub + seeded Transwarp Network Gateway: Hold the Transwarp Network Gateway as long as possible, then seed it near your opponent's facilities (in any quadrant) to give your Borg easy access to assimilation targets. Or, download the Transwarp Network Gateway along with a Borg Scout Vessel reported with crew for the same effect plus some extra personnel in play.
  • Transwarp Hub x2 + Transwarp Network Gateway + Mirror Quadrant mission: If you're using less powerful Borg ships against an aggressive opponent, use your Hubs and [MQ] mission to form a kind of "rabbit hole" for hiding out during your opponent's turn.
