Dr. Q, Medicine Entity from Kathy McCracken (02/22/2000)

See picture of Dr. Q, Medicine Entity.

If your opponent is given to playing annoying events like Q-Nets on the spaceline, you can move them to a more convenient (for you) location in a flash - a Q-Flash, that is. Just lace your Q-Continuum side deck with multiples of Dr. Q and seed Q-Flashes under each of his missions. When he encounters Dr. Q, you get to move one of his events to a different "appropriate" spaceline location. You're limited to events on the current spaceline, and can't move them to another quadrant, but that still gives you plenty of scope for Q-mischief. Just move that Q-Net or Gaps in Normal Space as far as possible from where you want to go.

But don't overlook events that play on a ship or personnel on the spaceline; they're candidates for Dr. Q also. If you're getting annoyed (or worried) by the Memory Wipe or Warp Core Breach he dropped on your ship, let Dr. Q move it to another appropriate target, such as one of your opponent's ships.

Finally, don't forget artifacts that play as events. A Kurlan Naiskos plays on any ship, so your ship is just as appropriate a place for it to be as his.

Combos:

  • Dr. Q, Medicine Entity + Distortion Field: Whether he was trying to lock you out of your mission or protect his ENGINEER at Cochrane Memorial, moving one of a pair of opposing Distortion Fields to another mission will take the teeth out of his strategy.
  • Dr. Q, Medicine Entity + HQ: War Room: It plays on any homeworld, so why not move it from his homeworld to yours? You won't be able to use its text, but he won't be likely to have personnel matching that homeworld's affiliation, so it isn't going to do him any good either.
  • Dr. Q, Medicine Entity + Iconian Gateway: Not all events are annoying; some can be quite useful if they're in the right place. Move his Iconian Gateway to a more convenient staging area for your own expeditions.
